The FollowYourTalent Foundation received extensive funding from the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth for the conception, development and implementation of so-called “Encouraging Workshops” as part of the “AUF!leben” funding program. In summer 2022, the workshops were offered as an extracurricular project at 24 schools in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia. A total of 2,307 young people took part. Participation was free of charge for the young people.
The workshop series “Reboot – Back to life” was specially developed by the FollowYourTalent Foundation together with the initiative “My Courageous Way” from Karlsruhe. The focus of the events, each lasting around 6 hours, was on focusing on the young people’s own personalities and increasing their self-esteem – above and beyond tight lesson plans, homework and pressure to take grades. In the workshops, the young people dealt with their own interests, values and goals under professional guidance. In a motivating and age-appropriate atmosphere, they worked out a 5-step plan for their very own “courageous path” together with trained coaches. This plan helps the young people to strengthen their decision-making skills for further steps in life. All the results were documented in a personal workbook. Afterwards, all participants received access to 6 months of free online coaching in order to deepen what they had learned.
The young participants…
…identified and questioned their 5 greatest strengths and found strong reference experiences that allow them to confidently stand by their strengths.
…developed their interest corridor, which captures the most important criteria for a future educational choice. This allows them to narrow down and filter the many options for themselves based on 11 decision-making criteria.
…learned two different ways to build more self-confidence and why this is the decisive factor for success.
…dealt consciously and creatively with their dreams and goals. By becoming aware of their dreams and goals, young people develop a strong intrinsic motivation that makes them want to take active control of their own future.
…learned how, despite doubts and fears, they can take long-term action on their own responsibility and make decisions with confidence.
